When I Fall In love

With great jazz feeling, improvisational invention and sure intonation, Olga Škrancová sings standards from early swing to the bebop era. On her debut CD from 2003 she excels on the velvet frequencies of her voice and draws not only jazz-loving listeners into the romantic corners of her great soul. “Someone said of her that she sings like a born African-American singer, and he was not far from the truth. This CD was a debut not only for Olga Škrancová but also for our label. Although Lucie Kukulová had been involved in the making of other CDs before, this recording is the first to be released under the Amplión name. At that time Alexej Charvát was not yet working with our label. The projects that followed are oriented more towards original music, but we are glad that Olga’s beautiful voice, the fine performances of her backing band and the engaging melodies of well-known standards were our very foundation stone.
