“Heterophony: the imprecision or non-uniformity of the performance of a given musical material. I put this term into the ensemble’s name because I use heterophony, to varying degrees and intensities, as a creative process. Precise interpretation of melodies and the refined elegance of genres on the one hand, a deliberate loosening of the same on the other, and, not least, a simultaneous combination of both. I complement all this with occasional interventions as a conductor, whether announced in advance (in the score) or made spontaneously. From this stems the ensemble’s overall character, specific in both sound and expression.”
