Marta Marinová, a singer utterly devoted to music, first gathered the fruits of knowledge at the Faculty of Education of Charles University and later continued at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory. She owes her vocal training to Vlasta Mlejnková and Marie Urbanová, and her training in composition to Milan Dvořák and Jiří Linha. Her sense of ensemble and rhythm led her to chamber music and jazz.
For many years she has been a member of the vocal and instrumental group Linha Singers, and she also performs with the St Lawrence Quartet. Among the jazz formations in which she gives full rein to her love of improvisation are The Cotton Gang, Big Band Trumpets and the trio Broadwayské ukolébavky. She is a permanent member of the Sklep theatre, where she works as an actress, singer and violinist. Chance also led her to take part in the production of the jazz opera Dobře placená procházka (A Well-Paid Walk), directed for the National Theatre by Miloš Forman. In her singing she places the emphasis on sweetness, feeling and restraint.
