After the enormous success of their debut album Vertigo Quintet (the Anděl Allianz 2005 award of the Academy of Popular Music in the jazz & blues category), the members of the group threw themselves into further creative projects. In the summer of 2006 the recording Vertigo Quintet Live U Staré Paní was made, featuring Vladan Malinjak’s string quartet and singer Lenka Dusilová as guests on several tracks. The fusion of different genres produced a surprisingly compact album that captures the unique atmosphere of a live performance. The recording once again attracted great attention, as witnessed not only by the many reviews in respected magazines, newspapers and other media, but also by the growing interest of jazz listeners and the wider public across generations. The band’s success and work inspired other musicians devoted to jazz and gave them new energy to develop and experiment in the field of original jazz music.
