Enough Space, the album by saxophonist Petr Kalfus, presents an intimate yet sonically rich Hammond trio. Together with organist Jan Andr and drummer Tomáš Hobzek, he creates music rooted in the soul-jazz tradition that gives room both to strong melodies and to the sensitive interplay of all three players.
Most of the repertoire consists of Petr Kalfus’s original compositions, characterised by melodic clarity and an economical yet inventive approach. The album also brings compositions by the other members of the trio and the ballad Utviklingssang by Carla Bley. The music combines the raw energy of live playing with subtle studio detail, creating a varied, open space for improvisation and shared musical conversation. The album was recorded in January 2025 at SONO studio and will be launched on 19 September 2025 at Jazz Dock.
