Osmosis is a jazz quintet built on the original compositions of František Otakar Kukula and Robin Galia. The band moves on the border between the jazz tradition and contemporary influences, with an emphasis on tonal colour and the shifting form of its pieces. Besides jazz it draws on electronics, pop melody, looser sonic textures and contemporary classical music, naturally bridging acoustic and electronic instruments. Jan Hocek wrote: “My jaw kept dropping at the inventively constructed pieces, fed by a fusion of hard bop as tight as a belt and jazz-rock as fat as a pig. The biggest surprise for me was the playing of the trumpeter and the keyboardist; his dirty Moog playing pointed somewhere towards rock psychedelia… And consider this: it was only the band’s second public appearance.”
