The quartet of saxophonist, flautist and bass clarinettist František Kop is one of the longest-running line-ups on the Czech jazz scene (since 1995), with Petr Malásek on keyboards, Martin Lehký on electric bass and Pavel “Bady” Zbořil on drums. Kop is a prominent figure of the generation that entered the scene in the early 1980s and was the last to be influenced by Karel Velebný. He wrote six themes for the album; the rest are by Petr Malásek. The opening Mali, with its rhythm, the sound of the electric bass and the timbre of electric keyboards and synthesizer, suggests that the sound painting of the classic jazz-rock era still holds an allure for Kop’s quartet.
