For this project, pianist and composer Marek Novotný invited leading players of the Czech jazz scene: guitarist David Dorůžka, saxophonist Marcel Bárta, double bassist Petr Tichý and drummer Tomáš Hobzek. The group was expanded by American singer Aubrey Johnson and violinist and singer Gabriela Vermelho. The album was recorded in Italy at the studio of double bassist Miroslav Vitouš.

All the repertoire was written by Marek Novotný, whose work combines jazz, classical music and folklore. The pieces are marked by strong melodic motifs, contrasting moods and inventive instrumentation.

Over the course of his musical development Marek Novotný has passed through several schools: he studied jazz composition and arranging at the University of Massachusetts in the USA, jazz piano at the University of Stavanger in Norway, and earned a Ph.D. in music theory at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. Over the past ten years he has been a member of many ensembles and has worked with singer Feng-yün Song and a whole range of Czech jazz musicians, among others.
