Tellemarkk

Biography

Tellemarkk was formed in 2000 as a duo of the saxophonist and clarinettist Pavel Hrubý and the percussionist Tomáš Reindl; in 2009 the cellist and singer Dorota Barová joined them, and since then the group has played as a trio. The name refers to the Norwegian region of Telemark and the elegant ski landing, which the band’s logo also depicts. Pavel Hrubý plays soprano and tenor saxophone and bass clarinet, Dorota Barová (known from Tara Fuki and Vertigo) plays cello with live looping and sings, and Tomáš Reindl plays tabla, percussion and live electronics. The trio’s music arises from improvisation as well as prepared compositions and moves on the border of world music, jazz, ambient and electronics. The trio released its first joint album Tellemarkk in 2017 on Amplión Records. More at facebook.com/Tellemarkk.
