“…the music of ZDB uses jazz procedures, yet it also contains elements of folklore, rock and big beat. It keeps the standard song form (melodic chorus motifs), with intriguingly shifting rhythms and a rich, broad harmony. Zuzana is accompanied by a number of guests whose individuality and skills convey and intensify the telling of a musical story.
Her work, and her approach to it, is a vivid example of the fact that music today is made not by genres but above all by strong musical personalities. The distinctive perception of these personalities reflects the many-layered and complex picture of today’s world, and not only the musical one. With her contribution to contemporary music, Z. D. thus fulfils one of the basic aesthetic functions of art, the so-called “mimesis”, the imitation of the reality that surrounds us.”
